The song is quite similar to the movie I watched long ago. The story is about a man w/ his wife who text while driving, cause an accident leaving so many deaths and he's the only person survived. Consumed by guilt, he donate his organs. At the end of the movie, there's someone who need a heart and eyes so he commits suicide by dunking himself into a ice cold water with a deadly jellyfish in a bathtub, leaving a note to donate all his organs.The movie title is Seven Pounds.Just look at the bathtub, it looks like a jellyfish, the one who take his life away.

This is what I interrupted- it’s really late. But I only found this one about an hour ago. And this is all just speculation. Sorry for spelling error- point any out and I’ll fix them. I was in a bit of a rush.Okay so- I don’t think I can cover the entire song without writing a practical novel. But lemme just highlight what I think are the most important parts. The first red flag is “If love makes you blind, then I guess there is no need, no need, to see, I’ll trade my eyes, so you can see for me”. Here you can kinda pass this off as dark imagery.“Twist my legs to one and my mind to none, tell me, tell me, what do you see, In the mirror that’s covered on chalky steam, touch me, touch me, kiss me to sleep, cut me open and give me gills, so I can breathe” She’s talking about twisting her legs here- I’m assuming she’s talking about breaking them or something of the sort (it’s seems extreme but it’ll make sense in the context of the rest of the song). And then at the end she talks about someone cutting her open so she can ‘breathe’. I think this is a metaphor for just flat out cutting yourself. It can feel like you can’t breathe- and in order to feel like you can again, you have to cut yourself open. Which sounds really bizarre. But it’s like your skin is choking you, squeezing you- and you only have one choice for escape. Cutting is like exhaling, breathing. Which again- sounds bizarre. There is also some lovey dovey stuff. But we’ll get back to that later.“With tweezers and nippers, Trim off my fins” again- here it’s talking about items for self harm. I think. (It’s all based on opinion)- but practically anything can be used to hurt yourself. Nail clippers, pencil sharpers, tweezers. “And then I gave you my eyesTo see all the coloursAnd then I gave you my earsTo hear all the sirensAnd then I gave you my heartTo fill in the emptiness in your chestAnd then I gave you my brainSo that you can learn to love” Here- she’s again talking about hurting herself in some way. That being metaphorically cutting out her heart etc. Shes “Sacrificing” things for her love I guess you could say. “Cut me cut mePlease make it deepIf I’m covered in scarsWill you look at me”This is just what confirmed my beliefs. And is my favorite part of the song. She’s literally just asking whoever she’s singing to to cut her. The line that sticks out to me is “If I’m covered in scars, Will you look at me?”. This is because, some people start self harm because they want someone to notice them, to get some kind of attention, so they can feel like someone cares about them or someone knows they exist. So here she’s asking that if she’s hurting- scarred- will her love notice her then? Once she’s physically hurting?“I’m a bathtub mermaidI cannot swim but only singJust pull the plugFlush down all our memoriesInto the sea”So here she says she’s a “bathtub mermaid”. That seems kinda random- but wait. She also says she can’t swim but only sing, and then asks whoever she’s singing to to pull the plug and get rid of all their memories of them being together. I think this whole song is leading her up to the singer killing them-self. The significance of them being in a bathtub can be lost. You see- in the media at least- cutting yourself and bleeding out in a bathtub is a popular portrayal of suicide. This actually doesn’t happen very often in real life. (This method of suicide). And it usually isn’t successful. But I have to admit- it is dramatic.So the entire song she’s asking someone to cut her open- mutilate her- so she can bleed out in her bathtub. She says she can’t swim, only sing. This means that she can’t save herself (by “swimming”)- only tell you how she feels and the truth in her final moments/suicide letter. Hence her only being able to sing.And lastly she says to pull the plug on the whole thing and to forget her. Because now that’s she’s dead and gone- she dosent want whoever she is singing to hurt because of it. And she thinks Itd be better if they just forgot about her. So they won’t hurt.About the whole love thing- I think they’re saying threw out the entire song to please notice her, and she tries to make them (by hurting herself) but in the end she just decides to finish herself off. Because until she dies no one will care. Not even if she’s hurting. Maybe they won’t even care when she dies- who knows.I find myself drawn to these sorts of songs- because they’re able to express and convey emotions i cant explain. They also have them (sometimes) hidden. Which I like- because it makes me feel like I’m able to understand someone when others aren’t. Because we can relate in some ways.So the song gets progressively darker as it goes along. The cheery and dreamy sounding melody and the pastel background also symbolizes how these things can be hidden in anywhere- and you need to look closer and read into things. The art is also beautiful. The color palette is so soft and pastel-y. But then you notice her gorged our eye, the person drowning under her, her cut out heart and brain, her legs being twisted and broken to form a “tail”. The art is also what made love the song so much too.

個人覺得整首描述為了某個已經不再愛自己的人，用盡自己的一切只為了對方的一點注意，把自己搞得遍體麟傷、所剩無幾，最後導致惡行循環(產生空虛→無法填滿→想得到注意→奉獻→得到注意→彌補空虛→自己缺乏更多→又感到空虛→無法填滿→想再次得到注意→做出更多貢獻)。故事跟「少年小樹之歌」單一的貢獻有點像，但是這首歌結局並不溫馨。
