Mike. I know you aren't a meathead but lifting free weights can free you of inner angst and pain and strengthen you, if you approach it right. It doesn't hurt that it makes you look great too. This is positively the worst music video ever. I can't believe you would put this shit out. I was kind of exciting about hearing your new stuff, but this sucks. The soul coughing stuff had such raw energy - I just know you could do better. You revealed too much - too much exposure and you put shit like this out and you are going to lose people. You better reunite with guys to make a Soul Coughing World Tour which would be very successful if you need the money and you miss all your cool songs OR just do your solo stuff. Not SC covers. It's wonderful to see that you reached the point where you could look back with new eyes. I love this album. I find myself liking the new versions as much or more as the originals (How Many Cans, for example). Not everybody will get it. Not everybody will like it. But that's never mattered. 11 years ago

Mike obviously had some severe issues during the Soul Coughing period of his life. Although I loved SC. I think there are some feelings (that none of us could know) that has disallowed him to love these songs like we do. I see this album as his way of working through it. I do prefer the originals (because they remind me of a time in MY life) ... but I'm glad he's finding a way to be at peace with them.11 years ago
