"Love is Strange" was a crossover hit by American rhythm and blues duet Mickey & Sylvia, which was released in late november 1956 by the Groove Record Label.

Mickey & Sylvia was an American R&B duo composed of Mickey Baker and Sylvia Vanderpool, who later became Sylvia Robinson.

Mickey was a music instructor and Sylvia one of his pupils. Baker was inspired to form the group by the success of Les Paul & Mary Ford. They had a Top 20 hit with "Love Is Strange" in 1956. The record sold over one million copies, and was awarded a gold disc.

Some people are so versatile. Mickey was a jazz player who played with people like Charley Parker back in the bop days. His yellow and black book Jazz Guitar, changed the way I played guitar and showed me,when I bought it back in 1961, that there are more than 3 chords. Although I'd heard this song, I didn't realise that it was the same guy till recently.

Considering this was made in 1956, which is 60 years ago, is pretty amazing. Back then they really knew how to do the duos. LP and Ford will always be the two most favorite but this is still classic.
