True, none of us was named Michael, but it was the stage name. First the drummer Paul Cosenza was Michael for about a month or so, but he tended to be a little shy when greeting fans. Next I was (Wayne Beckner) for the remainder of our time together recording for USA Records.and touring.

Thanks Gary for the compliment. I'm guessing you were from the mid-west.

IT'S A SHAME THAT THIS VERSION IS NOT PLAYED ON THE RADIO TODAY, MUCH BETTER THAN THE REFLECTIONS VERSION, I REMEMBER THIS WELL......

I really like this track. It´s raw, honest good old garage rock from the 60s. My hobby is to rediscover all those great bands that didn´t "broke through". And, it´s a fantastic musical treasure. Listen for example to The Music Machine (Talk, talk), The Golliwogs (Tell me) and a band from Scandinavia called THE ZETTLERS. Check up their versions of "Skinnie Minnie" and "Beautiful Delilah". Really, really good with a bloody driving beat.

@cbsinet Hey Hans, where have you been. I got that one message from you at MySpace a year or so ago and then nothing. Do you still play ? At my YouTube channel there is a solo video from 2009. While there you can also click on LIFS (Don't Mean Nothin') by M&M. Later, Wayne

@abbysnoni It's Wayne again. We finally succeeded in painting the whole downstairs, walls and ceiling black and continued up the staircase walls. There was some talk about removing the railing on the stairs, but there was the fear that some would fall so it wasn't done. It's clear you were there and you know me, but what is you name. A little more info please. If you don't want to put it here just email me at: [email protected]

It was you I knew back then. Poster on the wall of the room where the hookkah was. Poster from the Filmore in SF. a lil somethin, somethin in the pot made me throw up, the Boston blend. One of you painted the front door black...took the Stones literally I guess. Probably best to not look back but it was all kind of innoocent and it was the year Sgt Pepper was released.

@abbysnoni Hi, this is Wayne the lead vocalist for M&M. I had to smile a little when I read your comment. A lot of folks passed through our place at West Farwell just off of Clark. Care to explain a little more as to who you are and maybe who came with and who you hung out with ? Now you got me wondering. ? ? ? ?

@bze2nlz4 Wouldn't it be fun for both Messengers groups to re-unite for a double-bill concert on the "Legends" circuit!? Lots of Vox/Farfisa organ sounds and a great time would be had by all! That concert would be written down in history ... just like Romeo and Juliet (OMGILMFAO)!

@ejslurb2007 There was no Michael...it was a made-up name that differentiated this group out of Massachusetts from 'The Messengers' from Wisconsin. The Messengers had a hit in the midwest with 'Midnight Hour.'

BUT WHO WAS MICHAEL!?

This was a wicked band back in the day....buncha crazy guys who lived on west farwell in chicago for a time.....seems like several lifetimes ago but these guys gave me my very first "weed" at that townhouse. By now they must be grandpas cuz I am a grandma. Fun to see this here.

Great song. I have always liked it since I first heard it on the double Nuggets album. I finally tracked it down on .45. Great version.
