not sure about this...the helmet, the hammer pants.

What's with the helmet? Was he born without a scalp like Joe Dirt? Or is it like my poor handicap cousin type of thing? Hell of a guitarist either way, I will try to focus on that instead....

For all it's schadenfreudian sentiments the song has always been for me, life (as it should be lived) affirming and Hedges' performance is a wonderful bundle of impish magic that brings me, someone who has loved this song for forty years, to tears.

Was he coming a little unglued, going nuts towards the end? I mean he was always enthusiastic, but this is...manic, kinda.

What a talent and nice person. In 1975, our little trio played a coffeehouse in Baltimore. Michael went on stage before us. Shock and awe and a version of Neil Young's "Don't Let It Bring You Down" that was not to be believed. Stepped up to the stage after: numb, blissed, blessed by what we heard. Shamelessly we went through the motions.Love this rendition, his vocal virtuosity, rich and resonant guitar.

Think he plays with the meter of this song's harmony as well as the dynamic of its lyrical delivery too much. The song as Bob wrote and performed it is such an exceptional piece of work, however, that it lends itself to someone like Michael, a once in a lifetime guitarist of beautiful virtuosity, stretching and exploring the song's potential while not exactly improving upon it.

I have a terrible sad feeling knowing that this guy died when I was 1 year old! Imagine this guy NOW, 17 years later. He would have been my favourite player together with tommy emmanuel. But wait, he's death and still my favourite with tommy. Guess i'm just sad to know this legend isn't amongst us anymore... :(
