Album: Load

Lyrics:

Mama, she has taught me well

Told me when I's young

Son, your life's an open book

Don't close it 'fore it's done

The brightest flame burns quickest

That's what I heard her say

A son's heart's owed to mother

But I must find my way

Let my heart go

Let your son grow

Mama, let my heart go

Or let this heart be still

"Rebel", my new last name

Wild blood in my veins

Apron strings around my neck

The mark that still remains

left home at an early age

Of what I heard was wrong

I never asked forgiveness

But when is said is done

Let my heart go

Let your son grow

Mama, let my heart go

Or let this heart be still

Never I ask of you

What never I gave

But you gave me your emptiness

I now take to my grave

Never I ask of you

But never I gave

But you gave me your emptiness

I now take to my grave

So let this heart be still

Mama, now I'm coming home

I'm not all you wished of me

But a mother's love for her son

Unspoken, help me be

Oh Yeah I took your love for granted

And all the things you said to me

I need your arms to welcome me

But a cold stone's all I see

Let my heart go

Let your son grow

Mama, let my heart go

Or let this heart be still

Let my heart go

Mama, let my heart go

You never let my heart go

So let this heart be still

Never I ask of you

What never I gave

But you gave me your emptiness

I now take to my grave

Never I ask of you

But never I gave

But you gave me your emptiness

I now take to my grave

So let this heart be still

Just because this song is in an album considered bad for many Metallica fans, it doesn't mean that all the songs are bad.I'm sorry, annoying fans, but this song is a masterpiece!

Metallica should play this for Taylor Swift's mom. Would do her a world of good.

This song had a country feel to it which is fucking awesome. Most people dislike Load and Reload. They are killer rock albums. Not Metallicas best albums in my humble opinion but worthy of repeated listens through out a year in my book.

ANOTHER THING THE SONG *MAMA SAID BY METALLICA* IS A SONG BASICALLY SAYING THAT EVEN THOUGH HIS MOM DIED WHEN HE WAS 13 JAMES HETFIELD MISSED HER STILL AND THIS SONG WAS HIM SAYING *LET MY HEART GO WHATS DONE IS DONE AND I CAN NOT DWELL ON THE PAST* SO THIS IS A BEAUTIFUL SONG I SUGGEST LISTENING TO IT

This song blows me away. The singing and instrumentation are from Somewhere Else. I love playing it to people - nobody ever guesses who it's by ! Thanks Metallica for a work of real beauty.

In my opinion this is one of Metallica's best pieces of work. I feel it just goes to show how much James misses his mother. Honestly losing someone you truly loved and cared. is one of the hardest things you'll ever have to go through. You never want to have to experience that kind of pain but still there's that horrible feeling inside of you that says you'll have to experience it eventually.I lost my grandmother a few years ago and my best friend a few months after her. Even though this song is mainly about James and his mother, I feel like i can relate it to my best friend and grandmother, i don't know why I just do. I guess you really don't know how much you truly love those close to you until they're gone.
