I think it is a sign of musical talent to be able to break out into various types and modes music. As people go through different episodes in life exploring various aspects of music is just fine. It is not being a "sell out." Some folks are just are shallow to the point of infantile.

About the fake car in the video. To me, it means the character’s travel to see her mother and tell her how he wants her to let him grow, to let him be still, to love him, never existed. It’s something he wishes to happen in real life, but never has and most probably, never will. The horse at the end? Again, to me, because of the character is departing from a big city, it means he is still the same small town, family guy who left home many years ago, the mother’s boy.

It’s a shame some people try to put their obtuse views of the world on everybody. These guys are great musicians, with a long, successful career not everybody can have. In the way, they gave form to thrash, played in front on millions of people around the world, recorded albums that sold (still sell) by the tons, and like them or not, they are one of the greatest rock bands ever. They are not thrash music players. They are simply musicians, and they can create/play whatever suits their mood. What do think? That these guys don’t enjoy classical music, or country or love songs? If you like what they play, you consume it. If you don’t like it, well… you just don’t consume it.This song is great. It might have huge significance to Hetfield. I'm sure it has lots of significance to many others of us who listen to its lyrics and relate to them.
