You should listen more to various Heavy Metal bands from 70's up to 10's. Reading magazines can't give you Heavy Metal knowledge, since they are written just for money, and feature bands which pay the most. Also, there are lots of fanboys who praise crap bands, and piss on great ones too.

not at the time those were titles made up after the fact when I was growing up i read all the mags and saw all the shows...but ya i have heard more genres made up every day

Up to 1986 Classic Heavy Metal, Doom Metal, Melodic Heavy Metal, Power Metal, Thrash Metal, Progressive Metal, Neoclassical Metal and Death Metal were forged styles of Heavy Metal music. Your reply was unnecessary, your argument invalid, your Heavy Metal knowledge very poor.

i think its because at that time you had only death metal. satanic metal, thrash, and speed metal....i would just call them super heavy duty metal...they really set the bar for all acts to follow...they were disciplined and they were melodic and rhythmic..which is the exact reason i listened to metallica but i liked these guys better because the lyrics were deeper and heavier even laars was on their jock!!

Hell yeah, I hear you there. Metal is more of a lifestyle and culture. It's like Rob Zombie said, "Once you like metal, you never give it up. You never hear someone say, "I remember that one summer I was into Slayer." and for good reason."
