Band: Meshuggah

Song: This Spiteful Snake

Album: Obzen

[Lyrics: Tomas Haake, Music: Marten Hagstrom & Tomas Haake]

Reality - this spiteful snake,

Rearing its ugly head

Venom dripping from its grin

As it tosses yet another obstacle in our way

If given a thousand years to collect,

To process, to portray

- We could never encompass the voracity

Of one single day

Trapping us in its winding,

It's closing malignant cycles

A tightening coil to bind us,

Hold us tight in unforgiving embrace

Its all-engulfing jaws - infinite, boundless

Biting down on the dying flesh of hope

Its fiery breath levelling, dismantling,

Flattening, tearing down the structure of our dreams

Overcome, defeated

Terrified, shivering, mute

Reality is terror - this truth is absolute

Reality - this spiteful snake

- Shedding its smothering veil

- A shroud to asphyxiate,

Exterminate, eradicate

@methwatch problem is however, listening to meshuggah and lamb of god is the same as listening to meshuggah and dubstep or this NOW YOU'RE JUST SOMEBODY THAT I USED TO KNOW shit thats playing on the radio. It does not compute. Why would I listen to Justin Bieber after I just listened to Bach. What the fuck is wrong with me? OH YEAH LET ME DRINK SOME DRAIN CLEANER AND PUT ON SOME LAMB OF GOD CAUSE I'M A REDNECK YEEEEEEEHAWWWWWWW NASCAR LEFT TURN LEFT TURN LEFT TURN YEEEEEEEHAWWWWWW

@methwatch lyrically wise they are ridiculous. THIS IS A MOTHERFACKING INVATAAAAAATION.wow. really. you're a redneck - thats fucking great. 90% of the high school bands I have to see at local pubs/bars all sound like them, thats because there is no talent or artistic value in doing what they do. The drummer I suppose has some merit....but all in all it's mass produced anti-metal metal. Utter fucking garbage. But yes, in matters of opinion, debate is meaningless.

@facepalm486 I'm sorry but that just sounds a little ridiculous. I love LoG and Meshuggah. They're both ACTUAL music. Your use of ignorant is a little funny. Why does lamb of god suck? cause you say so? I respectfully disagree.

@Kuolleille they don't 'miraculously' resolve to 4/4. Maybe you should give it another listen 23/16 is not 4/4 (simple math really). Musically speaking, when fusing jazz, prog and metal, there's actually a lot to think about. The interwoven, yet individualistic, musicianship of Meshuggah makes them wholly original. Even so, that their style practically created a new mass-produced genre, played by *ahem* US bands. The chugga-chugga-djent-call-it-what-you-will bands suck badly though.
