+TheMeatballMen - believe it or not, Do Not Look Down is in 4. They don't drop beats. I don't mean to make it sound so simple, but I've found it easier to learn thinking of it in 4. Especially since Thomas says that he learns how to feel it in 4 after learning what happens inside of their "riff cycles".

There's only one way to headbang, and that's the way Jens does it at 0:44.

@ Annie Hendry - make sure you check out all their interviews and especially the ones when they demonstrate their riffs. Most of their music is in 4/4. One song on Koloss is in 3/4, another is 12/8 which can be felt in four, one song on Future Breed Machine is in 5/4, and most of the music from Contradictions Collapse has odd metered stuff. Keep in mind that they have a ton of influences (they list them inside of Destroy Erase Improve) that go beyond Metal...like Earth Wind and Fire, Forest Gump, movie scores, etc. I can point you to the links that will be of interest if you need. They're my favorite band.

One dislike. That's wrong.

I'm doing a project on this band for graduate school-- none of their songs are in "normal" meters-- many of the pieces have different instruments playing what sounds like different time signatures.

4/4 but really syncopated, just listen to the cymbal and snare

4/4. Whole song. FOUR FOUR. FOURRRRRR FOURRRRRR. No polys. No trickery. Just pure metal genius. FOUR FOURRRRRRRRRRRRR. FOUR FIDDERY FOURRR. Foe foe. 1. 2. 3. Foe.
