I agree. I've been listening to them for 20+ years, and never found another band that consistently puts out insanely well written songs with first class musicianship. Nothing else ever seems to quite measure up. I suppose King Diamond spoiled me :)11 years ago

I started listening to Mercyful Fate and King Diamond when I was 13 years old. Today I'm 29, almost 30, and I can not in any way stop listening to these guys. Undoubtedly, in my opinion the best band I know.11 years ago

He's a nice guy, too. I met him outside the tour bus way back in August 1998 on the Dead Again tour. It was after Mercyful Fate's show at the old Birchill Nightclub in Old Bridge, NJ. He told me that Michael Denner personally recommended him for the Mercyful Fate gig after Denner left the band. His guitar work and solos are just as good as Denner's.12 years ago

Actually, I think that the three best Mercyful Fate albums are "In the Shadows," "Dead Again," and "Time." I do love "Melissa" and "Don't Break the Oath" but I think that Mercyful Fate's songwriting, for the most part, peaked during the 1990s.12 years ago
