"Return of the vampire...1993" is a song from the in the shadows album.

Because Mercyful Fate had a little Drummer-problem Lars Ulrich was asked to do 1 track.

Lars Ulrich was a good friend of King Diamond, and a big fan of the band.

Probably the cleanest Lars has ever sounded in studio. The drum mix is perfect.

Lars hits hard - I stood close to the kit when they played in Oslo in 2009 - He hits much harder than the drummers of both Lamb of God and Mastodon, even though they may be "better" teqnicallly. He's not the same as he was in his heyday though - but on a good night he still impresses me

Here's what I don't understand,a lot of people bitch about Lars and the way he plays today but then they talk about how bad ass he was back in the day but yet Metallica still plays all those classics from back in the day which means Lars is still a bad ass drummer and deserves a little respect and recognition, after all Metallica is part of the foundation that all other Thrash Metal variances came from. Oh and this song fucking jams!!!!!!!

I'd say it's quite much the opposite, that he's way overrated just because he's in Metallica. For myself as a drummer, Ulrich was my first influence, but only from Reload and back. Trust me, there are many drummers that does it better than Lars will ever do it again.

Yep. And my theory is that he lost a lot of that control when he switched from wooden sticks to those stupid Easton Ahead aluminum sticks. I used to own a pair of those and my drumming suffered. I wasn't that good to begin with, but when I switched back to wooden sticks, I found I improved again. They just feel really sluggish. Anyhow, I bet this was recorded shortly before he switched.

@OfficialVoodoobiz i think lars is very underrated everyone says hes not good at all and i don't see what they mean to me hes one of the best. his rhythm is much more intricate than alot of other drummers. im very influenced by him i try to play sort of like him

Back from the time when Lars actually had control over what he played.

oh hell metallica rips off everything from black sabbath to dave mustaine himself (i consider dave a part of metallica to this day, it's who they were). Now metallica writes some of my favorite music but lars' recordings generally suck.
