Yeah, he is more speaking than singing. That was pretty common among german goth and punk bands of that time and I think it suits the dark atmosphere well adding some kind of desperation to the song. Once you understand the lyrics (It's about solitude) it perfectly fits.

@MrsVanGoth Personally, for me that is, I care more about the atmospherics of the song and less about the actual sing-ability of some certain stupid language its just more so about where the music takes me and less about how "pop" the song is.
