I think they were just trying to have fun with the track on this version. It's mixed completely different for one, and they were at less liberty to play around with this one like with sampling and track layering in You're Welcome, since the album with this track (MxBx 1998/13,000 Miles at Light Velocity) is recorded as a band, studio live. stupidly abrasive, and tinged too much in self-aware irony. the version they did on smiling pets was better when it was in medley with the song "you're welcome". if pet sounds sounded like this, it would be called TVU&N (very, very far from being a good thing)11 years ago
