Juan Atkins is not only considered one of the most influential electronic music producers of all time, he actually coined the term "techno" as a music genre. Please stop conveying your ignorance and lack of knowledge onto everyone else, passing off "a guy I've personally never heard of" as "a guy hardly anyone has ever heard of". Lots of people know who Juan Atkins/Cybotron/Model 500 are; you don't have to pretend that just because you don't, hardly anyone else does. That's just not true.

Just because one guy hardly anyone has ever heard of, released some obscure record nobody (apart from you) seems to be familiar with, DOES NOT mean that techno was a genre in the early 80s. Techno is a form of electronic dance music (EDM) that emerged in Detroit, Michigan in the United States during the mid-to-late 1980s. The first recorded use of the word techno in reference to a genre of music was in 1988 - Wikipedia. It is your statement that is WRONG. Deal with it.

Let me tell you something. I was listening to a lot of different music in the early 80s, and I NEVER heard of techno until the late 80s. Who is Juan Atkins? Did anyone hear of him in the early 80s apart from you? Besides, what has Melotron got to do with techno?
