Lyric:

Come on baby let's get out of this town

I got a full tank of gas with the top rolled down

There's a chill in my bones

I don't want to be left alone

So baby you can sleep while I drive

I'll pack my bag and load up my guitar

In my pocket I'll carry my harp

I got some money I saved

Enough to get underway

And baby you can sleep while I drive

We'll go thorough Tucson up to Santa Fe

And Barbara in Nashville says we're welcome to stay

I'll buy you glasses in Texas a hat from New Orleans

And in the morning you can tell me your dreams

You know I've seen it before

This mist that covers your eyes

You've been looking for something

That's not in your life

My intentions are true

Won't you take me with you

And baby you can sleep while I drive

Oh is it other arms you want to

Hold you the stranger

The lover you're free

Can't you get that with me

Come on baby let's get out of this town

I got a full tank of gas with the top rolled down

If you won't take me with you

I'll go before night is through

And baby you can sleep while I drive

Thanks for watching !

20 years ago. I was scared. I was in the army. I was transgender. I went to an army counselor, who outed me to my first sergeant. My first sergeant threatened to out me to my company. I tried to kill myself. My wife knew I was depressed, but didnt know why. She wouldnt know for another 18 years. She stayed. I should have known she would. We left Ft. Benning. I fell asleep. She drove us home. over 1300 miles. This song has always been near and dear to our hearts.

Time moves slow its been only a month and three weeks but feels like an eternity..-.why did you go? I loved you unconditionally and you left leaving me nothing but memories filled with your lies......do you sleep at night knowing everything I sacrificed for you over these last five and a half years? You used to talk about karma but you will now know her personally...

I'm so glad that at an early age I outgrew being welded to any particular genre of music. I can enjoy Georghui singing the Habenera or Springstein dancing in the dark but still come back to the gentle beauty of Melissa Etheridge.

Actually, she's not right, the lyric, believe it or not, is harp.

"Harp" means harmonica
