"The Sea" is the title track of Melanie C's fifth solo album, which she wrote down in Brighton during an early album session with Richard 'Biff' Stannard, the author of many Spice Girls' greatest hits, such as Wannabe, 2 Become 1, Viva Forever and Goodbye. The dramatic opener of the record gives an unique insight into the powerful and unpredictable atmospheres and sounds of the entire album. The song opens with the sound of the waves and leads, through a musical crescendo, dramatic drums and the unexpected sounds of a sitar, to a journey which represents the difficulties we experience when we can't escape from a dangerous and painful relationship.

"The Sea" features the singles "Think About It", "Weak", "Let There Be Love" and "Rock Me" and the highlight tracks "Burn", "Drown", "Stupid Game" and "Enemy".
