D standard would actually be "DGCFAD" but i'm assuming that was a typo. Also, dropping one whole tone from E would give you D not Eb. To get Eb you drop one SEMITONE.

lol. the guitar has 6 strings and each is a fifth interval above the lowest one. So standar tuning is EADGBe, D tuning is DGCFAe because ou drop it tow tones. Droping one tone from E would be Eb and tow tones would be D. Droppng 4 tones woudl make it a C and dropping it 3 tones a C#. The guitar works just like any musical instrument. It accends in a b c d e f g always.
