I'm a huge Manilow fan, but my take on it is this: This is just flat-out one of the greatest songs ever written. Both versions are amazingly special in their own way and both men are of the finest entertainers we'll see in our lifetimes. There is no shame in admitting that you like both versions ... heartbreak is not a contest.

The key change at 4.15 is awesome, one of his best.

One difference in lyrics between this and the Barry Manilow version: In the second chorus, Meat Loaf says "...and everything's blank," whereas Manilow says "...and everything's fine." Which way did Jim Steinman write it?

I like Meatloaf, but he doesn't do justice to this song. Barry Manilow, AWESOME!

For all of the times I've been diminished, vilified, minimized, demonized......mocked, ridiculed, taunted and hated-upon.Thanks, Meat.
