Played this as a senior in HS in front of about 800 people back in 1978. The butterflies in the stomach were incredible. But after the first few measures, he rest was history. The hundreds and hundreds of hours working range and power paid off. Seeing that sheet music for the first time back then, was extremely intimidating, but once you started taking it apart and working it...its like anything else. it will happen! Plus, I had an awesome teacher. Thank you Dr. Small wherever you are!!

When you hear the boss playing Gonna Fly Now you know it is high note trumpet playing but when you actually see the notes in front of you, you have to be absolutely amazed that anyone can play that high. Seeing these notes and following along makes my head spin. What a fantastic trumpet player Maynard was.
