As has been stated - the audio is intentionally distorted, or more specifically, those drum parts are. You can tell it's not a distortion of the whole track as the guitar and other aspects are still clear, plus the distortion is actually mixed with the cleaner sound, not overriding it. A couple of the other songs from 'The Road Less Travelled' album also use this effect. As for the picture, I like the cheesy inappropriateness of it and think it does suit the music in that aspect.
