hey matt, how's your music theory comin along ... can you get 'IT' up to speed quickly?begin with 'Noise', a book by the 'decency seat' 'occupying' - and for cover using syndicates .. using a series of them in musical chair games around the world ... - apologist Jacques Attali, pioneer of the Zogged French gov and media ... could you feel any of it in Madrid? Via Lybian refugee contact maybe?I posted a website in 96 with this comment about it: I am indebted to my friend Manuel Franco, a brilliantly moving guitarist for giving me the book "Noise, a political economy of music " by Jacques Attali, U of Mn press. (Yes the same guy that got his reputation dragged through the mud so bad it cost him his job at the East European Bank for Development, ironically, he had spent too much money on marble and jet fuel !) Here are some relevant highlights (with comments): Music and intuition are battlefields of knowledge. Poverty is subjugated by lent and transgressed by carnival (maybe to be transposed by rooted music). Music is only in the light, near a tabernacle, the masked simulacrum of the pagan altar. There, it abuts (perverted revelatory) dice, and playing cards: music is the fragile order of ritual and prayer, an unstable order on the border of chance, harmony on the border of violence. Elsewhere silence,....music fashions sound matter.... social meaning ....systems of power it serves....music is economic status.., ..pulverizer of the past... noise is a weapon and music an imitation ..a simile, substitute and transformer; weeping turned to healing, stone cold turned to life... sounds have no hyrarchy ...... Noise is a weapon, fire is a threat, music and love are sublimations, channelings of violence, they organize, affirm and take root as society and religion, replacing sacrifice with entrance fees, new inventions create money and open content, diffuse authority.....(unfinished, many more clues in it).
