For some reason I thought for the longest time that this song was a reference to the Donner Party that got lost in the mountains on the Oregon Trail and had to resort to cannibalism to survive...and all died anyways. I know it isn't about that, but it's relevant enough to the themes of the album that I wouldn't be surprised if there was some influence in this song by that event.
