Lyrics:

That a creature could be so lonely

It became my deepest wish

To give her my love

To embrace her forever

And to have her find some peace

She who was so lonely

Came with volumes of feeling I have never known

Except perhaps for Mary

And she was always my sister

And she was always my sister

That a creature could be so lonely

It became my deepest wish

To give her my love

To embrace her forever

And to have her find some peace

She who was so lonely

Came with volumes

Volumes of feeling

I have never known

Except perhaps for Mary

And she was always my sister

Thanks for posting. BTW Robert Fripp is not a vocalist. Daryl Hall sings on this album. 'North Starr' and 'You Burn Me Up, I'm A Cigarette'. Peter Gabriel also does a nice version of 'Here Comes The Flood' with some added 'Frippotronics'.

You're very welcome, and I can well inmagine that you heve been looking for this song for decades .... I don't know if it ever was recorded by a male vocalist. It's quite possible: the lyrics are by poet Joanna Walton, the music by Robert Fripp and Daryl Hall; both male vocalists among other things. The song appeared on Robert Fripp's album Exposure, and all other tracks with lyrics on that album have male vocalists; maybe that's what makes tour mind play tricks? Thank you for your comment!

Thank you, Rapunzzl. I have been looking for this song since the 1980's, when I heard a recording of it. The mind can certainly play tricks, but I was wondering if this was ever recording by a male vocalist?

I thank you too rapunzzl. A touching tribute to your friend Kim, I too love her painting and I'm glad she she was able to approve! One of my all time favorite songs, from way so long ago listening to the original vinyl. Thank you Fripp and god bless Terre Roche (and her sisters :)

Thank you for your comment. I made this clip a good year ago, and central in it is a painting by a friend. Fortunately she loved the result. It's a very fond memory now, now that it's 5 months since my friend died.

R.I.P. Kim Hope you found the peace you dreamed of. When you painted the picture, and through the years. You'll be in my heart forever but I'll miss you more than you could ever guess
