Marty Robbins - Lord You Gave Me A Mountain ------"You Gave Me a Mountain" (sometimes credited as "Lord, You Gave Me a Mountain") is a song written by country singer-songwriter Marty Robbins during the 1960s. It has been recorded by many artists, including Robbins himself, Elvis, but the highest-charting version of the song was by Frankie Laine in 1969.

Marty wrote this song, then gave it to his friend Frankie Laine to record first in 1969. Frankie made it into a huge hit. Then Marty and many others recorded it. Now whose is best, who knows it all depends on your individual taste in music. If your country, then naturally go for Marty. if you go to the Rock side then it's Elvis. But if you grew up in the age of the fifties Pop period like I did then there's no one like Frankie Laine.

This is a mountain of a song, so heartfelt, so direct with emotion in the vocal, great job. His memory lives on, and so it should. Thanks for posting this.
