Marty got it going on. Merle said he wrote this song and wanted Marty Robbins to record it. He also said he couldn't get with Marty Robbins to give him this song and he was sure glad he couldn't get with Marty Robbins to give him the song, cause it was a gold mine for him. Merle must have had a lot of respect and admiration for Marty Robbins to name his son after him. Marty Stuart was also named after Marty Robbins. He said Marty Robbins was his Mom's favorite singer.
