This was my first intro to Tom Waits and didn't know it for ten years.. still love this version... and I saw Freddie do a lot of gigs between Dublin and Cork... I was disappointed when in the late '90's went to see him in The Lobby in Cork, a big 150 seater venue, he said he didn't do this song anymore... pity, he did it so well

saw freddie play in cork with U2 free gig down the lee fields,,,,1986 just as they became huge and the smile on the mans face when he came out to play was fab..Freddie is a legend

Freddie does a great cover. I don't know why I prefer Tom Waits' version. I guess because it's his song. I think I feel it more when he does it.
