I know exactly how you feel. I've been playing guitar for MANY years. My main instrument is bass, and I've played a little upright and cello. I also play mandolin, SO you'd figure I can play fiddle too, right? WRONG!! Very frustrating. Same tuning as a mando, and I can bow an upright, but damn if I can get the hang of bowing a fiddle. My wife laughs because I end up giving up and picking it like a mando. And don't EVEN get me started on my "attempt" at vibrato. BUT nobody can play like Mark!

I watched thr PBS Lincoln Center honoring Wynton Masalis. It was a song Winton had written and Mark came in for a cameo solo and by the time he finished the solo, every band menber was smiling at his marvelous talent. . I must have played thet spot on my Tivo 40 times and still marvel at the soul the man has that make me so envious. But makes me grin from ear to ear every time I play it

Mark, you should put this to ledger lines! I played guitar growing up with Stephen Bennett in Gloucester VA. I'm playing the violin now and it's very frustrating because I want to play like I can on the guitar and I can't. I'm trying to find some others in the Raleigh NC area so that I can do music with strings that's not classical like my Bach Partita No. 2 I'm working on now. This is awesome! I used to listen to Chet Atkins when I was a kid. I'm listening to you now.
