One of the things I love about artists like Mark and, say, Chris Isaak is that what you hear is what's really there, every time. Post-production mixing? We don't need no post-production mixing! Blindfolded, you'd be hard-pressed to differentiate between the album version or a live performance. He doesn't NEED technology to help create the sound that I love.

You are somewhat right. If it really is that guitar, and not some other white strat. If it is the guitar used on Sultans and Going Home in Sydney 86 and The Bug on the OES tour, it's a Schecter. John Suhr built this guitar for Mark in about 85 I think, at that time he was working for Schecter. I know the decal on the headstock says Fender, but it's not, not even the neck.

This is one of his Fenders actually, remember Sultans of Swing from Sydney (1986) or The Bug during OES Tour, that;s the same guitar (Fender Stratocaster) he just added tremolo bar for this song (look at 3:29 -one can see name -Fender)

I thought that guitar was the first ever Pensa Suhr, serial nr 001, with a Fender neck (Schecters have "Schecter" written on the headstock for one thing). But I might be mistaken.
