Mann !

I may be wrong, but did not "Big Jim Sullivan" (British guy) also record this in 70s. I have LP of his with many great instruments. Also another Brit Link Wray, awesome player surf sounds. Yeah, there are (were) many great players from UK. mosrite60

When mentioning Guitarist the much underrated British guitarist called Albert Lee should always be included to me

Why copy a 'classic' if it turns out to be inferior?

The thing is..neither Mark nor Hank had any choice as to which era they born in. Hank may have been 30 years earlier, that does not necessarily make him better than Mark.

Genial guitarrista y gran compositor. Como bien dijo el una vez. "Mi música la emplea mucha gente para vivir mejor". ¡ Tienes más razón que un santo Mark! Ojalá que en el cielo te sienten cerca para seguir disfrutando eternamente de tu música

Ask any of the world's greatest guitarists today, and they will all tell you they grew up listening to the Shads.

Hi Bill. I believe that you've forgotten the Ventures also. They sold more than 100 million albuns in the world. I love both: The Ventures and The Shadows. They are the responsible for my addict for electric guitars playing also. kind regards.

Still own the original Shadows album. All due respect to Mark, Hank is the better man at this song

Stuart, they "weren't in the same league" if the league is called something like "Great rock guitarists who can write great songs". However, you have to take context into account. No other artist had a string of top ten hits with purely instrumental records - only the Shadows. Their records always had an 'edge' to them, as the titles suggest - The Frightened City, FBI, Man of Mystery, Kon-Tiki (another no. 1), The Savage though this series 'culminated' (for me) in the glorious Wonderful Land

I think Hank was and is recognized by Mark and other praised guitarists as their 'original' or something like that.
