Who else but Mario Lanza could sing this heartbreaking song with such deep feeling, really singing his whole heart out as if it were the last song in his life? The lonely voice in the dark , tears and torments of of the man who had lost the sense of his life -his love gone forever. It's a masterpiece never outdone by anybody else.

Thank you for posting this marvelous performance. It shows Lanza's fantastic talent. A great book explains so much about him. It is the bestseller, “A KID FROM PHILADELPHIA, MARIO LANZA, THE VOICE OF THE POETS.” It is a series of essays that exhibit his life and ability to be the greatest of tenor and the greatest of performers.

M.Lanzas performance is not to be outdone. No opera posturing, only humility.

Beyond beautiful. He is immortal. He was vilified for singing in movies, etc., but 40 years later the 3 tenors were lauded and applauded for the very same thing did. Mario forever.

Anche Enrico ha cantato Voce e notte. Vedi Enrico Letta canta Voce e notte! Gli porterà buona ventura come a Nicolardi?

I always loved Mario singing these songs. I know for years Mario and a few others like Richard Tucker have been compared with the Great Caruso. All of them have Great voices in their own right. Just think, if we could hear Caruso sing today and not back then with limited quality. It would just be a blessing.

deep gratitude to all you Lanza fans. Have many of his recordings but somehow missed his gr8 LP. Thank goodness for the excellence of the recording facilities and technology of that Italian (RCA) studio.

E viva o Lanza.

i have this album..i'm also a tenor..and i think that Lanza sings these Neopolitan songs on this album better.. and with more feeling then all the other tenors i've heard..and i've heard them all ! Caruso, Gigli, Del Monaco, Di Stefano, Corelli , Pavarotti..ect..this album is Lanza's greatest ..it was recorded in Italy 1958..he never sounded better !! i can't say enough ! i'm Italian and i know these songs inside out ..and Lanza sings them a cut above everybody who ever sang them ! viva Lanza !
