Voice and photos of the great Mario Lanza are combined with master paintings for this video.

The words to the carol, Joy to the World, "... are by English hymn writer Isaac Watts, based on Psalm 98 in the Bible. The song was first published in 1719 in Watts' collection; The Psalms of David: Imitated in the language of the New Testament, and applied to the Christian state and worship.... The music was adapted and arranged to Watts' lyrics by Lowell Mason in 1839 from an older melody which was then believed to have originated from Handel, not least because the theme of the refrain (And heaven and nature sing...) appears in the orchestra opening and accompaniment of the recitative Comfort ye from Handel's Messiah, and the first four notes match the beginning of the choruses Lift up your heads and Glory to God from the same oratorio. However, Handel did not compose the entire tune.... As of the late 20th century, "Joy to the World" was the most-published Christmas hymn in North America". The photographs of Mario Lanza are from the film "The Great Caruso". It is an excellent film and is available for sale from Turner Classic Movies.

@Valdez244 You are most welcome, I am happy that you like it. Thank you for your video on Henry Mancini. What a remarkable career he had. His name on a song always meant quality. My favorite of his songs is Moon River, especially with Andy Williams singing it. Merry Christmas

@Greg7341 Hi Amy! I am very happy that you like the video. You may also like the other Christmas videos that I have uploaded with Mario. Please excuse if just calling Mr. Lanza by his first name seems too familiar. You see that my family and I, indeed the whole United States, claim him as not only a great tenor, but also as a dear friend whom we came to know and personally like through the media of radio and television. May I say that your voice, Amy Bourdon, is exceptional for a 14 yr old!

@toff358 Thank you so much for your kind comment. It is most appreciated. My husband said that he thinks that Mario is looking down from heaven and smiling with approval. I hope that is the case. I have been a Mario Lanza fan for over 50 years. My videos of him are an attempt to repay him for all the wonderful listening hours over the years. A while back, we were listening to a CD of tenors. They were fine, but when Mario started to sing, I exclaimed, "Sing it Mario!" His voice was that great.
