Artists get influenced by managers, the charts, other artists, the fans, etc., etc. Mariah almost destroyed herself maintaining control over her career 100%. I think that experience may have caused her to listen more to others than her own heart???? She has [had] a truly exceptional voice/vocal range. I think that the race to 're-create' one's self as an artist either works or it doesn't. Madonna was VERY successful at it. Mariah not so much in recent years. She's still a superstar to me.
