It was like witnessing the second or third coming of Mariah Carey. She's still a virtuoso vocalist. the video reminds me of "save the last dance". the song screams genius. mariah's heavenly vocals over mob deep's "shook one" beat gives you everything. one of the best hip-hop/R&B songs ever and my favorite mariah carey song. its sickening how underrated this song is. it should have been #1 on the R&B charts.

The whole Butterfly album assured Mariah would be respected for the finesse of her lyric writing: "the roof", "close my eyes", "breakdown", and "outside" are amongst her best songs ever.Daydream and Butterfly represent two opposite phases of the elusive chanteuse: the first, portraits a young fragile girl who carries on through dreaming about an endless myriad of possible realities, whereas the latter represents a woman who´s aware of all the drama life brings, yet keeps pushing forward. Both are smooth RnB oriented and, in my personal opinion, her best albums ever.
