Hahaha why on earth would she develop a complex after her duet with Whitney. OMG! Whit's fans are hillarious. Mariah changed her singing style in 1997, more than a year before that duet. Seriously, people overrate Whitney's power so much. Yes, she was amazing, her voice had power like almost no other, but Mariah had almost the same power plus that ability to add texture to notes which no one else can emulate. Whitney seems better because she believed she was the best and acted like goddes always

Can I just say..Please know this is Luther Vandross. I've seen a few comments that confuse him with Mariah's back-up singer Trey Lorenz. Trey is talented but Luther was a well known solo artist that passed well before his time and left a lot of great music. God Bless!

@RanjitMorey She gravitated more towards hip hop and pop and that's when this technique and style changed. The voice is still there...but she doesn't control her technique as intricately. I still think she can give a great performance but this dead on pitch and control is a bit altered today. Some believe it's aging vocal chords or wear and tare. She has said that she got a bit tired of the ballads. Maybe a mix of all things.
