ya know at first listen I'm wondering about that too, but i feel the same effect from the glockenspiels at the beginning. I think whatever it is is intentional, but I'm not sure if they're actually rushing, or it just sounds like it because of the rhythm of the vocal melody. I know these guys have made a career doing crazy things with rhythms and time signatures.10 years ago

I think those kids were looking like an urban kid would when a shaggy white hippie shows up at their school and forces them to play something that probably sounded like a martian with a cat stuck in their throat.
