I used to detest the Manic Street Preachers until they released The Holy Bible. This is one of my favourites from the album. The talking introduction is taken from 'Hookers, Hustlers, Pimps and their Johns'. I had no idea when I started to watch this documentary that it had anything to do with the sex industry!

This was probably the peak for the MSP. MIght be wrong there. Might be right. Shame about Richie. If he could have stepped away from the guitar for a while and remained 'the ideas guy' he might have stayed on and who knows what they'd have done next. Most folk would think that playing guitar for a crash hot rock band would be a dream job and for most folk it certainly is. I think Richie really struggled with the live playing and that this anxiety played on his mind to a destructive level. They've never matched the power and the angst of the earlier stuff although they did go on to achieve greater popularity post Richie.

This album's music alone is Semtex for the brain, the lyrics are the same. Richey was a genius and this band touched a raw nerve with this album, a nerve most fear to go near. If nothing else they will be remembered for this raw album, the intense humming of evil is put down in musical form before us.

4:45 "$2 you rub her tits, $3 you rub her ass, $5 you can play with her pussy, or lick her tits. The choice is yours." The sick reality of the consumerist watchword of "choice" is laid bare at the beginning and end of this song and in other songs on this album.

"Solitude, solitude, the 11th commandment", "Pity or pain/To show displeasures shame/Everyone I've loved/Or hated always seems to leave", "Don't hurt, just obey, lie down, do as they say/These sunless afternoons I can't find myself". The best Manics lyrics are in this song.

Deluded mate, this English band got their boring tone by living in Cardiff for 12 months, they moved out swiftly when they reliased what a scum bag hole the region of England Cardiff is, saying that they are better than the other English band sterolhonjcs

Yes! And people who want to listen and talk about Beatles just need to go there. Different design.

The raw anger has more in common with Plastic Ono Band than most records the Beatles made. I think he'd have been fan. And arguably this has more in common with Lennon than McCartney ever did.
