Exquisite melody compliments of amazing Mexicana, María Grever, English lyrics by Charles Pasquale. This interpretation by Jane is a delight!

Amazing, as usual...The duet with Ann Sothern is from "Nancy Goes To Rio"...Does anybody know what movie is the solo she sings wearing the Mexican attire...?

What a fine musician! I can see and hear why his playing was in demand. I certainly understand the sad feelings you're having. I'm so grateful to hear from you; it's these messages that make being on YouTube truly worthwhile! Thanks again!

Love Maria Grever! One of the finest composers ever, she also wrote another of my favorites, "Alma Mia." I have it by Cubano "Bola de Nieve," but not here on YT. Thanks so much for writing! I'm glad to hear from you!

Hi OjeyonO! What a wonderful comment! I think Jane is about 83/84 these days! She's still petite and lovely, and, though maybe not hitting the high-notes she managed here, still does very well for herself. I wish she'd come to San Francisco for an interview, as did her contemporary, Ann Blyth! Her show was a sell-out, they showed Mildred Pierce, and she even sang us a few lines from "Kismet!" Beautiful! Wish Jane would honor us in the same way! Thanks so much for your notice.

jane's singing style blends beautifully with this song - the direction and photography aided and abetted - a memorable movie moment

This is one of the few performances of Jane Powell that didn´t hurt my ears. With a little effort, she would succed in show business.

@spoofa20 Thanks so much! The only way it could have been better is if they'd have had Jane sing it in Spanish, as it was written. As much as I love Ms. Powell, she could have sung it in the Burkina Faso language, and it would have been OK with me! Great to hear from you!

@nayelinesme Disculpe.

About this song, is was written by Mme. Maria Grever who lived, produced and died in United States. There is a new book about her career as songwriter, composer, intelectual. She had a very interesting life. The title of this book is "Maria Grever. Reflexiones sobre su musica" by me (Nayeli Nesme) and edited by Guadalajara University.
