"Everybody" (1982) was Madonna's first single that become a big hit the slopes in New York & to reach the third stop of American dance. Initially rejected by Island Records, Sire Records bought it. Has a strong presence of sound synthesizers, supported by a strong hip-hop and R&B. As the input and the bases remitted to african-american artists, the marketing department of Sire Records, Madonna has sold like a black artist and not put her picture on the cover of the single, used a collage of several images of the streets of downtown and suburban of New York with black children playing. Only with the release of the album "MADONNA" (1983) that confusion vanished, as the case left no doubt about her ethnicity. Madonna received a $ 5,000 advance on this and another song, "Burning Up" which became her first music video. When she recorded the debut album, received another $ 10,000 in royalties for each song composed.
