Madonna - Buenos Aires

Album: Evita

1996/1997 HQ

Lyric:

What's new Buenos Aires?

I'm new!

I want to say I'm just a little stuck on you

You'll be on me too!

I get out here Buenos Aires

Stand back

You ought to know whatcha gonna get in me

Just a little touch of star quality!

Fill me up with your heat, with your noise

With your dirt, overdo me

Let me dance to your beat, make it loud

Let it hurt, run it through me

Don't hold back you are certain to impress

Tell the driver this is where I'm staying

Hello Buenos Aires!

Get this

Just look at me, dressed up somewhere to go

We'll put on a show!

Take me in at your flood, give me speed

Give me lights, set me humming

Shoot me up with your blood

Wine me up with your nights, watch me coming

All I want is a whole lot of excess

Tell the singer this is where I'm playing

Stand back Buenos Aires!

Because you ought to know whatcha gonna get in me

Just a little touch of star quality!

And if ever I go too far

It's because of the things you are

Beautiful town I love you

And if I need a moment's rest

Give your lover the very best

Real eiderdown and silence

You're a tramp, you're a treat

You will shine to the death, you are shoddy

But you're flesh, you are meat

You shall have every breath in my body

Put me down for a lifetime of success

Give me credit I'll find ways of paying

Rio de la Plata!

Florida! Corrientes! Nueve de Julio!

All I want to know!

Stand back Buenos Aires!

Because you oughta know whatcha gonna get in me

Just a little touch of

Just a little touch of

Just a little touch of star quality!

Madonna shat on every other person that sung these tracks. The Production, quality of her voice, and emotion KICKED all the rest out of the water.

and the oscars snub her! she deserves least a nomination for best actress DIVA!

In response to ''her celebrity status''...in reality, she applied and earned the role as if she were any civilian applicant applying for a position. She wrote a letter, submitted a resume and underwent extensive vocal training to expand her range. That is a TRUE artist and vocalist, not just a ''celebrity''

Viva Las Islas Malvinas Argentinas, stolen from Argentina by the Limeys in direct violation of The Monroe Doctrine! Even today, Argentine President Cristina Fernandez (de Kirchner) models herself after Evita in her care for the downtrodden, despite the fact that the musical so maligned Eva-what else would one expect from a pair of Brit writers? BTW, I have no connection with Argentina except that in 2004 I spent the three most wonderful weeks of my life touring this amazing country.

Madonna was perfect for Evita and she sound fabulous here, perfect for the movie. lupone is good, but only for the stage because she over sings the hell out of this song, you know, for the stage kind of thing; otherwise, it would be annoying on the screen.

What the hell is it with LuPone fans and whinging about how she r teh bestest on the videos of any other artist who has dared do the part? She isn't the best by a mile. Shut the fuck up, you idiots made me dislike her because I'm bored with seeing her name.

That is not to insult Lupone's singing, as I am sure she appeals to many, but she just isn't my style. In her defense, I can say she commanded the stage in much the same way I would think Eva Peron did. I just prefer Madonna in the long run.

I just don't like Patti LuPone. I figured I'd give her a shot since everyone seems to rave about her, but I just don't appreciate her voice or the way she sings. It is too rough and she seems to speak more than sing. Mind you, I listened to her sing Buenos Aires and Rainbow High. I was not impressed. I like Madonna's version. It may be due to having heard her first, but I find her version to be more melodic and pleasing to the ear. She also humanized Evita. LuPone gave her a cheap bitch feel.

patti could do better at age 104, madonna is NOT cut out for this role.

yes. she wrote (in Vogue magazine) that she was a little worried that she might cause damage as the dancing was strenous.

I think movie products, like 'Evita' here, appeal more to the mass. Thus, many things may be altered from the original versions, at the expense of the artistic taste of theatrical audiences. I myself like both the artists' works. I watched Madonna's Evita before, and I am just impressed by Patti Lupone. It's a good thing that you guys brought this topic up, so that I came to know Pat. But, to remind you if I may, we are all doing this for Art's sake, not for our own Id's or Ego's!

I'm not saying this is bad, but the music was altered so much, it doesn't even sound like same song!

madonna has been working very hard to achieve the singing abilities she shows in that musical and one has to respect that, although it is a fact that she'll never have a stunning voice. this song suits her style, but - if you listen to her in 'don't cry for me..' and compare her version to patti lupones (as a musical trained singer) aaaand donna summers version you`ll see what i mean ;-).

she won a golden globe award for her role in evita, and I think she was 7 months pregnant when filming?

sorry guys i think madonna was great for this role!you have to see her performance in the film as a whole and not judge from her voice or looks only. Besides this is not a video clip...

I love how Madonna and the second man dance. Its like he "owns" her, and she is enraptured in his movements. What a turn on!!
