From memory the band never intended this to be a single and was created as an instrumental filler as 'Absolutely' did not have one. Stiff head Robbo saw potential to Jazz it up a bit with its 'Radio 2 Appeal' , so got the lads to re-record it and the rest as they say, is history. Inline with some other comments, I never regarding Madness as ska band and only their first two singles that could really be called that. Their influences and diversity were key and if they had of been just a Ska band, they would of been totally washed up by early '81.

At last a video that says what it means,(after 1st wasted 45 seconds).Flying off like to another planet(Los Palmos), and then the rejoice of returning back to Blighty, and its associate cultures. Even leaden,wet,grey sky at end outside inner city greasy spoon cafe, couldn't have been timed better. My joint favourite Madness song with Uncle Sam and Wings of a dove.Good Post.Thanks.
