Somewhere among all the junk in my house roof void lies the Atomic Mr Basie. Can I find it! Not a chance! Keeping it company is a couple of Ted Heaths 78's. And, might I add, a 45rpm M Squad theme. Boy did I enjoy the tv show as a kid. I started off at 9 years of age, hooked on Glen Miller, but then my music tastes hardened up and I drifted across the great grey divide into the dark zone of Basie, Heath, Miles Davis and west coat jazz. Now in the second decade of the 21st century it seems as if all the oceans have run dry and I'm left in a cultural wilderness wondering what the hell passes for music these days!

Absolutely the greatest TV series ever made. No liberal PC, no nudity, no foul language, just a highly believable tough cop in a tough town.

The opening scene of M Squad is the best, the two '57 Fords chasing each other down Lower Wacker Dr,

I always liked the opening. Lee Marvin shooting at somebody with a cigarette dangling from his lips, lol.

Heard this fantastic track in Barbados 1980, whilst on holiday. The show was never shown in the UK, but it always stuck with me. Between 1959 -75 on both sides of the Atlantic, the most memorable theme music for TV was created. "The Avengers", "Danger Man", "I Spy", "Redcap","Callan", "Man In A Suitcase", "Randall & Hopkirk" etc.Wonderful stuff. Thanks for posting it.

The Basie theme was obviously the better of two themes for M Squad, but the original series had a different one with a big smashing crescendo at the end to the accompaniment of Lee Marvin firing bullets. Anybody know where it may be found?
