Lyle Lovett with Nanci Griffith - Closing Time video free download

This is one of my favorite Lyle Lovett songs. Here he is performing live at a backyard barbeque in East Texas, with Nanci Griffith. Their harmonies are heavenly. I wish they had done commercial work together. Their sound far surpasses his duets with Emmy Lou and others (imho). This was shot in the late 1970s prior to anyone becoming popular. Most of this shoot I was the Technical Director (the guy that calls the camera shots and makes the switches). On this particular song, I traded off and grabbed the handheld. You can see me in the beginning just to the left of the stage, before I realized I was in the shot. Another interesting tid-bit. One of the cams was on a fixed tripod for wide shots.and WAS NOT TO BE MOVED. It was just to be monitored. Unfortunately, the cameraman was stubborn, thought he knew better, and went against specific instructions. You can see the results of him fighting the tripod. When I saw the footage afterward, I was not very happy. Originally, in post, I edited out the visuals of most of his footage. Here, I have chosen to leave it as is. This was also the debut of a communications system the my brother designed for the TD to talk to the cameramen. We had no idea the talent level that was going to be there and thought it was a good time for a test run. Some of you know my brother as the designer of the TANSTAAFL Sound Systems from the early 1970s on the East Coast. Others may know his later work on the Space Station communications systems for NASA. Prior to my posting this up on Facebook and subsequently, now, here, only Lyle had copies of this footage.

The same River that Peter spent the entire night without catching any fish,is the same River where they caught thousands of fish in the morning. The issue is when Jesus came in the morning and said 'Do you have any fish?' and they said no, He did not advise them to change the River. instead He advised them to cast the nets deeper. When your life is going the opposite direction, it's not about changing your place of work, changing your church, changing your husband or wife, or giving up.Its all about casting your faith deep in God, casting your fellowship with Jesus deep in believing that God will provide, heal, restore, uplift, deliver, revive, and bring blessings and favour along your way.May the Lord give us the grace to go deeper...

Where was this shot? I played music with Lyle several times in the late 70's.. College Station.. I didnt realize until later my x-husband told me. Cause he looked like this young man.. Not the Lyle who became famous.... He was just a guy who jammed with us after hours in the bars along College Ave.
