It said to me "Hey son, I've gotta story to tell and you'd better listen!" Her voice spoke to me in a way that very few artists can and have. It oozes sex. It's lonely and haunting yet soothing. It's June Carter Cash meets Bruce Springsteen in a weird sort of way.I had no idea how deeply her music moved or influenced me until many years later when I picked up a guitar and began writing songs of my own. Her songwriting helped me understand that it's ok to bare your soul in the stories you tell. People say that to write a great song all you need is three chords and the truth. I guess that's why great songs are difficult to write or come by...the truth is hard to tell sometimes.
