Bill Gaither is a bass.... but he did used to be a baritone early in his career in the trio and early vocal bands....... as he got older,wiser,and deeper he changed his "title" to bass...... he may not be the best-lowest-bass but hes one of the most famous for his productions...

This isn't entirely true - Bill has never actually been a bass; he's a true baritone through and through, bass-baritone at best. He works hard to produce sound, and I'd say sings at least 50% of the time, but because it's not naturally where his voice is strongest, you can hear him a lot less than some of the more impressive basses in southern gospel.

he's there it's just blended so well that it's hard to pick out...but that's how a bass is supposed to be...detectable as a bass...not a solist.
