Bill Gaither is a bass.... but he did used to be a baritone early in his career in the trio and early vocal bands....... as he got older, wiser, and deeper he changed his "title" to bass...... he may not be the best-lowest-bass but hes one of the most famous for his productions...

If we add Wes Hampton and make a five-man formation with these guys, we'll have the best GVB formation ever...

This isn't entirely true - Bill has never actually been a bass; he's a true baritone through and through, bass-baritone at best. He works hard to produce sound, and I'd say sings at least 50% of the time, but because it's not naturally where his voice is strongest, you can hear him a lot less than some of the more impressive basses in southern gospel.

he's there it's just blended so well that it's hard to pick out...but that's how a bass is supposed to be...detectable as a bass...not a solist.

Oddly enough, it's titled "A cappella". My first GVB album, actually!
