This is one of my most favorite songs. It reminds me always to forgive as Jesus forgive and to be loving of others. When my young boys are upset or angry about something I reminded them about this songs. It helps them to remember that God is loving and forgiving. We should be as well.

Sadly, this song deserves the Theological Censure of "Captious" (captiosa), because its title is a phrase that--for over half a century--has been used to urge people to complacently accept chronically sinful lifestyles. Indirectly & implicitly then, it also encourages those lifestyles. The way that the phrase is often used is, "What, so-and-so is divorced? . . . Or is engaging in the homosexual lifestyle? . . . Or is a criminal? . . . Or is a rich-and-famous Mafioso?...Just be loving and forgiving [towards them]." Moreover the 2 statements in the song, "God Forgives us ALL our sins," and "God remembers not our sins," each stated absolutely, and unmodified by any preceding circumstance (e.g. the circumstance/event of us FIRST repenting and firmly resolving not to do them again.), . . . both DIRECTLY encourage the Sin of Presumption, namely to think that "No matter what I do, . . . God will forgive me. . . . So it's OK (i.e. not spiritually dangerous) to do it again." But this attitude has been strongly and repeatedly condemned by all the saints & bishops as dangerous, injurious, and leading many to Hell.

Listening to this song over and over makes me to think more wisely about other people and to give them another chance. No one is better than others. Everyone is equal. I learn that I should give people a 2nd chance for what they can do and we can forgive them with love while Jesus is forgiving us at the same time. God bless you all! <3 and remember that when you pray to your God, he will answer back in action, not in voice! You have to find the action God is showing and you will realize that that is him, your God!
