Title: Strike Zone (track 02)

Artist: Loverboy

Album: Keep It Up

Year: 1983

Label: Columbia

Writer(s): Paul Dean, Mike Reno, Scott Smith, Bruce Fairbairn

Lyrics:

You tell your self you're not the one

You won't get hurt when the damage is done

You tell your self it won't happen to you

It's the same old story there's nothing new

Can't be the one to lose

You're only wearin'some one else's shoes

Can't you read it it's up on the wall

How can some one so big be so small

You're nothin' with out your friends

They'll be with you till the bitter end

Your nothin' and you'll find out

What this world is all about

Standing in a strike zone runnin' with the pack

Standing in a strike zone ain't no use in turn' back

You want no war it's the chance you take nothin' easier

And the ice woun't break

When the sun comes out at the end of the night

You woun't escape from the blinding light

Freedom goes but who to blame

See the madness burnin' in their brains

No where to run no place to hide

Your all alone on a one way ride

You're nothin with out your friends

They'll be with you till the bitter end

Your nothin'and you'll find out

What this world is all about

Standing in the strike zone runnin' with the pack

Standing in a strike zone aint no use in turnin' back

Standing in a strike zone there's a panic in the streets

Standing in a strike zone aint no golden parks retreat

You tell your self you're not the one

You woun't get hurt when the damage is done

You tell your self it woun't to you

It's the same old story there's nothin' new

Can't be the one to lose

Can't you read it it's up on the wall

How can some one so big be so small

Standing in a strike zone

There's a panic in the streets

Standing in a strike zone

Ain't no golden parks retreat

Standing in a strike zone

You got a ticket for a front row seat

Strike zone runnin' with the pack

Standing in the strike zone Aint no use in turnin' back

You're only wearin' some one else's shoes

yeah he comes out in pink or red leather levis and you say hmmm, but after about a half an hour of just flooring the auidence, and the best damn green lazer show next to wings and a sharp canadain metal sound, your hooked. I saw them headline twice and they were absolutly KILLER

I get what you're saying about the band name, but it never bothered me, and "Strike Zone" is a great song no matter what!

Pretty cleaver simple gtr riff, back and forth for most of the tune. Followed by some ad-hoc keyboard counter riffs. Bass on the 1 and 3. Add 2-4 keyboard over-dubs and a lead gtr, finish song with some high compression on drums, done. Love it!!!

Same here! Their songs were always some good "seduction" music nonetheless.

It wasn't released as a single. Rock stations played the hell out of it though.

Always thought their band name is what hurt them most from being taken serious by hard rock fans. They didn't need a band name to appeal to female fans, as they would discover them via videos anyhow and go crazy for them as they apparently did. This song is great plus Only the Lucky Ones, Take Me to theTop, Lovin Every Minute..., When It's Over, Turn Me Loose, and even Jump were great rock songs by most standards, but plenty of male hard rock fans just "couldn't" like them. Yes, I always did.
