Nice to hear a cover that's not simply a copy--thanks for sharing!

Thanks again elvisx ... all adds to the communal knowledge ... to expand it a bit more, I don't think you are right with the 12-18 month period between the two releases. It is certainly true that the LC version was released earlier than the G/P one, but I think it was only a couple of months. The Gerry version was recorded in December 1963 (in the same session as I'm the One was recorded) and it was released in April 1964. The LC record label shows it as being first released in 1964

Thanks JohnFrench111 for the extra info....Maybe the Marsden is meant for both the brothers!? Les Chadwick told me he and Gerry wrote this song while playing in Germany in 1961 and Les told me it was him who came up with the title. So Gerry and Les C. wrote it but shared the credit with Les M. and Freddie....they all got a chunk of the money.......What a nice thing to do!!

Thanks for posting this. As elvisx says Gerry Marsden gave this song to Louise Cordet who was on tour with them. She released it a few months before the G&P version. I also have never heard it before.. One interesting(ish) thing about the posting is that the Louise Cordet version credits the song-writers as Marsden, Chadwick, Maguire .... seemingly missing Fred off the credits !!!

WOW.....This isn't a cover.....it is the original......I knew this existed....but I've never heard it until now.....this came out 12-18 months before the Pacemakers version. Prefer Gerrys version to this.....but this is o.k. too....amazing how much pace and tempo can alter a song......Thank you very much for posting this!!
