I have always thought they both have wasted to much time on there constant bickering back and forth. When they are on the right page with one another there is nothing better.

after Warhol was shot by Valerie Solanas, the Factory as it had existed, was no more.

Love "Songs for Drella" - genius tribute to Warhol. So multi-faceted. Does Warhol proud!

I would say this is about after Warhol was shot and Warhol began his businesses outside the Factory. He often said he had trouble finding ideas and being inspired after leaving the factory full of crazy people like Ondine, Billy Name etc.

Whatever bad chemistry exists between these two, the fact is they can create great music. Songs for Drella is perhaps one of the greatest albums ever recorded. A pity Cale and Reed didn't collaborate on Lulu. There's a lot to be said for stripping things down and keeping it simple. As a fan I can love them both and ignore (or at least put aside) whatever their personal issues are - at the end of the day, it's none of my business. I get to love the music.

In the Velvets they would fight all the time (cherchez la femme - souvent). When Lou was out of the band they were not close at all. And then they come together to compose and perform a rock and roll masterpiece of the first order. Then they break off again. ...Couldn't happen any other way.

Brilliant stuff. Listen to the whole album if you can. The body language and looks Reed / Cale exchange are priceless, but they both loved/admired Andy.
