Lost in the Trees finds beauty in the darkest places. Singer, guitarist and songwriter Ari Picker, an artist classically trained at Berklee School of Music, mixes breathtaking string arrangements and sweeping orchestrations with folk-flavored acoustic guitars. But he uses these beautiful scores to tell personal stories of depression, suicide, cancer and the seemingly endless pain endured by a troubled family. It's the sound of a band coming to terms with the tragedies that define Picker's songs, then weaving bittersweet melodies out of melancholy.

After exorcising his inner demons on 2010's All Alone in an Empty House, Picker is back with Lost in the Trees and a new record called A Church That Fits Our Needs. You can watch band perform songs from both albums in this performance, originally recorded live from Le Poisson Rogue in New York City Apr. 11, 2012.

+joecoool100 They're not trying to be Arcade Fire at all. The lead singer was taught at one of the best music colleges in the world, and composes the music himself. This song, and the album it's apart of, was written after the singer's mother committed suicide (on his wedding day, and after a long battle with depression). If anything like that had ever happened to you, I wouldn't go out of my way to insult your work. Learn some respect. Also, the last time I checked, artists inspired by classical composition do not constitute a "freakshow".

Kudos to Ari and the other musicians. This is innovative, musical, moving, and real. GREAT contrast to the vocoded teeny-bopper dross that inundates the airwaves. Don't get me wrong, there's other great music out there... but this meets the cut, if not a cut above. Thank you for your music and words, your pathos.

I wouldn't consider using a wide range of instruments / vocals to achieve a desired sound is the same thing as attempting to be Arcade Fire. I think that they do the same thing as Arcade Fire by doing what it takes to make the music the way they want it to sound. Sure, they probably have some Arcade Fire influences in them, but there's so much else stuffed in there. Listen to the whole album, you'll hear it. There's some Radiohead in there too. So yeah. Lost in the Trees AND Arcade Fire RULE

@joecoool100 Why are you commenting on everything and leaving weird puns on how bad this band is? Go home... Oh yeah, and I love arcade fire

This band is an insult.....they need tuba player a slide whistle and a juggler and they could be a freak show....

What I was doing was called disagreeing with you by virtue of providing a conflicting opinion. Take it easy there Joseph.

This is called the internet, where people can say almost anything they like. My comment is called an opinion, which I am free to give. The spelling of the word Archade is called a "typo" which you will find in almost all print media from the NY Times to the King James Bible. Other things for you to spend your time on today....blow on your fingers and discover wind, clean out your belly button and make a pillow, or just go hump someone else's leg for awhile.

They don't try too hard to be anything but who they are. Ari brings an emotion and soul to the stage that couldn't possibly come from anywhere but the most authentic and primal place. Have you even heard their record? It sounds nothing like Arcade Fire. BTW nice spelling.

BTW trying way to hard to be Archade Fire.
